New Traffic App for the iPhone

A new iPhone app called TrafficTweet could become the saving grace for those who suffer from the riggers of city traffic. TrafficTweet is exactly what it sounds. Users post the traffic experiences in real time and other drivers can make use of this information to plan their driving route accordingly. Great in theory, but the heavy reliance on public charity could become a stumbling block. Let’s us assume that no more than 5% of TrafficTweet users will regularly update traffic information. (Most of us are lazy and never look at the big picture or long term success.) Will the 5% be enough to satisfy all TrafficTweet users? TrafficTweet is loaded with useful features, but being built so heavily on public support may prove to be its downfall. Also, what is preventing a…

    BlackBerry Curve is Number One

With all the rustling and clamoring of the iPhone and Android, Q2 results in the Smartphone field reveal that BlackBerry is still number one. Taking the top spot is the BlackBerry Curve, along with the Pearl and Bold, which placed third and fifth respectively. Apple was also in the mix with the 3G S taking the runner up spot and the older 3G in the fourth spot. (Expect the 3G to disappear by the end of the year, as more Apple drones do as they’re told and upgrade to the 3G S.) With all the talk of the new Android Market and how it will impact the App Store, it would also be prudent for Apple to keep an eye out for the RIM BlackBerry World. With the biggest Smartphone distribution in the world, the economies of scale could make BlackBerry apps more lucrative than…

    FCC to Investigate Apple

Most of you are aware that Apple recently rejected the Google app called Google Voice from gracing its app store. Most of you may have shrugged off this event to just another example of the fascist and tyrannical ideology of Apple. However, the proverbial horse crap has now hit the proverbial fan. The FCC, an organization known for having just as much fascism and tyranny as Apple, has now stepped in and demanded that Apple explain why Google Voice was rejected. In addition, Apple will also have to explain to the FCC why other similar apps were removed shortly after Google Voice was denied entry. The FCC has sent Apple a list of question and has stated that it expects an answer no later than August 21. Interestingly enough, the FCC doesn’t need to wait for an Apple…

    Extend your iPhone Battery Life

One of the biggest knocks against the iPhone has always been the short battery life. All the wonderful iPhone goodness takes a toll on the iPhone battery. One answer to solving this problem may be a Cable called X-Power. X-Power, aside from functioning as a charger, also has an attached battery pack that can be used to add some extra juice when you battery is running low in the middle of the day. (Something that many iPhone users experience.) X-Power provides your iPhone with an extra five hours of talk and Wi-Fi time, so you can spend even more time download applications and talking to your friends about whatever worthless nonsense enters your head. The X-Power comes in different lengths, including 6, 20 and 30 inches. This is the true strength of the iPhone. What…

New App: A Sex Offender Locator

How does Apple get itself into these predicaments time after time? For a fascist entity with little remorse, the App Store continually finds itself blasted with bad publicity due to the apps it approves. (Not that it hurts Apple’s bottom line.) This time around, a new app called A Sex Offender Locator is attracting some heat and controversy. A Sex Offender Locator provides iPhone users with information about sexual offenders in their area. Addresses pictures and more info are all available. Now before privacy advocates start crying foul, it should be remembered that all of this information is already available on the internet for free. But here is the big kicker. A Sex Offender Locator is not a free app. It costs $0.99 cents and that is why I personally have a huge…

    Apple Claims Supremacy

Apple has released its quarterly earning results and according to the royal family in Cupertino, we peasants should all be kissing the ass of Jobs and Captain Cook. Apple has made 10 zillion dollars and has sold over two jillion iPhones. (Yes, Apple is the best.) That’s great, but as usual, Apple has proven to be a master illusionist and weaver of fiction. Both iPhone and iPod sales are down in North America and Apple is ranked second after RIM as far as number of units sold is concerned. While Mac sales have increased by four percent, they are still eons away from coming anywhere close to the percentage of Windows running clone PCs have of the market. Apple is still one of the most prosperous countries in the world right now, especially considering the economic…

Apple to Make App Store Changes?

Indicators are indicating that there is an indication that Apple may be considering some change to the App Store layout. While the App Store has been extremely successful, with Steve Jobs boasting that he is the app king, there is some room for improvement. Apple CEO Tim ‘Captain’ Cook responded to a question by app developer Charles Wolf from Needham and Company by saying "Charlie, we are always looking for ways to categorize Apps differently and we do have some ideas in this area," Cook replied. "As you know, today we do it by type of App and also have show popular apps and top-selling Apps, et cetera. We realize there's opportunity there for further improvement and are working on that," when asked how Apple plans to separate the quality apps from…

    Sports Illustrated App for iPhone

Sports Illustrated have created an iPhone app filled with some of the hottest women to ever grace its pages. iPhone users can now enjoy hot and steamy two minute videos of some of the hottest women on the planet for only $2.99. The app includes 20 different models, including race car driver and midget model Danica Patrick. Danica is super sexy, but I don’t know if she can cut it on Sports Illustrated. The app apparently also helps you keep track of sporting events, but um… we don’t really care. We’ll just take the hot chicks please – don’t worry about the rest. Pictures and videos of good looking women prancing around is what the iPhone was unofficially made for. The screen is perfect for watching videos and sliding through picture galleries. Now I just need to make…

Monopoly 2.2 for the iPhone and iTouch

Monopoly, everybody’s favorite board game, is a new incarnation on the iPhone and iTouch. Version 2.2 includes many new features and additions. My favorite is the shake to roll feature that basically lets you roll the dice by shaking your unit. (I know what you’re thinking you dirty bastards!) You also have a splendid 3D view of the game board and board zoom in. Monopoly 2.2 allows you to play single player or with three other players via Bluetooth. I guess we finally know why Apple added a Bluetooth to the iPhone. I was unsure for a while because it doesn’t much of anything. In any case, if you like Monopoly, then knock yourself out with this one. I still wonder if the iPhone screen is big enough to support a game that generally requires a broad view of the playing…

New iTunes Blocks Third Party Electronics

The new version of iTunes (8.2.1) blocks the syncing of electronics that are not part of the Apple fruit basket. Rightfully I suppose, Apple does not want customers of other mobile phones using iTunes to sync music on to their handsets. I find this fascist attitude by Apple to be not only irrelevant but also extremely petty. For one, every mobile phone I have owned over the last two years did not need third party music software to upload music. For example: my current Nokia E63 is a simple drag and drop system that only requires you to connect your USB Cable or activate your Bluetooth. Seconds of all, Apple’s ‘our way or the highway’ policy works with hardware, but certainly not software. People find ways to circumnavigate software blocks quickly, easily and with plenty…
