New Robin Hood Game for the iPhone

Game developer Nordcurrent has released a new action game called Robin Hood: The Return of Richard. Developed for the iPhone and iPod, the latest reincarnation of Robin Hood sees the popular brigand and his merry and fruity band of men take on the evil Sherriff of Nottingham, while King Richard is off somewhere, doing something else. 12 levels of action filled with tights and bow strings are featured in this game. I have always been a fan of Robin Hood, but I just can’t help but feel a bit metro (ya, we’ll use the word metro) when playing games that feature the medieval hero. Too many men in tight pants wondering around in the forest, chasing other men and impaling them with all sorts of long and protruding objects makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable. No price has been…

    Apple Bans Screen Protectors

Reports from several prominent Apple related blogs have stated that the mobile manufacturer will not longer be selling screen protectors in its retail locations. The new policy by Apple has raised several eyebrows in the mobile industry. Apple has not provided official statement for this new policy, but speculation has it that they don’t want consumers to believe that the iPhone screen is not durable enough to stand the riggers of day to day turbulence and mishap. Unofficial retailers will continue to provide screen savers to customers. While there may be some logic behind Apple’s move, it is another clear example of Apple’s policy, which is ‘we know better than you’. This is in line with the iTunes, App Store and just about every other creation that Apple has ever…

    Vatican App for the iPhone

The Vatican is set to launch an official app for the iPhone. Hell bent (no pun intended) on spreading religious fanaticism across mobile channels; the Catholic Church has decided to embrace cutting edge social technology. This move by the Pope and his gang is not the first religious application for the iPhone. Several already exist in the App Store for your religious pleasure. The Vatican has decreed however, that theirs is the official app of the Catholic movement. Video messages will be sent to the masses that download the application to their phones. This would be extremely beneficial to men who are dragged to church every Sunday and then accused of not paying attention to the sermon. ‘Honest dear. I wasn’t listening to the Football game, I swear. It’s this new app…

    Name the New iPhone

Some speculation regarding the name of the next iPhone is taking place in the blogosphere. Why we vest so much time and energy into these worthless debates is beyond me, but here we are. The thought that Apple will name the new iPhone ‘iPhone 4G’ does not carry much merit apparently. The reason for this is that there aren’t enough 4G networks out there for such a phone to be feasible. In the United States, only Sprint and Verizon have started deploying 4G networks and even they are only at the beginning stages. Of course, Apple could still call it the iPhone 4G and claim that it is technically a fourth generation iPhone, but that may serve to alienate some users who will only find out later what 4G is supposed to mean. My recommendation would be for Apple to call the…

iTouch Gloves Supposedly Improve the iPhone Experience

One of the most common place creations that have spawned from the existence of the iPhone are idiotic applications and dumb third party hardware. This time around, a product called iTouch Gloves wins the award of ‘what were they thinking?’ iTouch Gloves is basically a pair of gloves that allow the wearer to use their entire hand to operate the iPhone and not just their finger tips. There are two reasons why I just don’t get this invention. One is practical and the other fashionable. Why do I need to use my hands to operate an iPhone? First of all, the screen is far too small for someone with an average hand size for the iTouch Gloves to be feasible. Also, why would I use the palm of my hand to touch something on the screen? From a fashion perspective, anyone from a hot…

    The Cheapest Valentine’s Gift Ever

Society as we know it is nearing total collapse. This was evident with the app called Send Flowers for the iPhone. No, it is not an app that helps you deliver flowers to that special someone, but rather an app that sends eFlowers. (God help us all.) Any cheap bastards out there, who are actually considering sending eFlowers, then be aware that this disgrace of an app costs $0.99. Just make sure that you bring her (we are assuming that only guys could be cheap enough to use Send Flowers) a two thousand dollar diamond ring afterwards to make up for your frugality. Otherwise, you and your hand will be getting better acquainted over the coming months. Honestly, you would be better off with a box of chocolates from the pharmacy and a $20 gift certificate for iTunes. Wait a…

    Apple Staying with AT&T?

Speculation is spreading around the blogosphere that AT&T will keep its iPhone exclusivity throughout 2010. While this is not confirmed by any means, it does seem like a logical conclusion. Both Apple and AT&T have been in bed together for many years now, each aiding the scrupulous ways of the other in order to reach the zenith of their respective industries. Let’s not forget, that Apple and AT&T teamed up to reject Google’s Voice app from the App Store. Obviously, it was not in AT&T’s best interest to see such an app available to users, as this would have meant a significant decline in revenue. With such a cozy partnership, it is not surprising that the iPad is available with internet service from AT&T and it is probable that the next generation iPhone will be…

iPhone App Saves Life in Haiti

Aside from being the most significant telecommunications device to be released in the last few years, the iPhone is also proving to be a life saver… literally. An interesting story has penetrated mainstream news and the blogosphere, which reports that a documentary director's life was saved due to a medical application on his iPhone after he was buried during the Haiti disaster. The director, Dan Woolley, used an app called Jive Media Pocket First Aid and CPR in order to treat the injuries he was suffering. Woolley claimed that he used everything from a sock to his shirt in order to patch his injuries until help arrived. Without the instructions and guidance of the app, he may have very well succumbed to his injuries. Aside from being overjoyed at being alive, we are…

    iPhone Factory Employees Strike!

Apple’s domineering and despotic ideology has finally started to anger the masses. The voice of freedom in the face of malicious tyranny has not come for the general public, but rather from employees at an outsourced iPhone assembly plant. Two thousand disgruntled employees walked off the job, furious over the lack of bonus compensation that was promised and hazardous working conditions that could possibly have resulted in the deaths of several employees in 2009. Wintek, the owner of the assembly plant, has vehemently denied any connection between working conditions and the health of employees, but has not offered an alternative theory concerning the rash of deaths that plagued the plant last year. One speculation is that Wintek cut corners for financial reasons and…

    Smartphone Wars Heating Up

The Smartphone wars in 2010 promise a never ending bout of heavyweight competition, as multi billion dollar corporations struggle to gain or maintain their share of the mobile market. The current reigning and defending, yet sometimes disputed champion, Apple, has continued to do well. Their latest fortune is coming from across the pond, as British carrier Vodafone reports a shortage in available iPhones, do to a stellar debut which saw 50,000 iPhones sold on the first day of availability. Google and Android are also stepping up the competition, with five more handsets announced by AT&T, all of which are scheduled to debut sometime during 2010. The Android shower of handsets entering the market has just been upgraded to a Hurricane. It will be very interesting to see if…
