Monopoly, everybody’s favorite board game, is a new incarnation on the iPhone and iTouch. Version 2.2 includes many new features and additions. My favorite is the shake to roll feature that basically lets you roll the dice by shaking your unit. (I know what you’re thinking you dirty bastards!) You also have a splendid 3D view of the game board and board zoom in. Monopoly 2.2 allows you to play single player or with three other players via Bluetooth. I guess we finally know why Apple added a Bluetooth to the iPhone. I was unsure for a while because it doesn’t much of anything. In any case, if you like Monopoly, then knock yourself out with this one. I still wonder if the iPhone screen is big enough to support a game that generally requires a broad view of the playing area, but I am sure designers came up with something halfway decent. Personally, I think these apps are a waste of time, but maybe it’s just me. I keep my phone for phone calls and my computer for gaming. When the iPhone can run a decent version of Rome Total War, I may change my mind, but until then I will keep my gaming at home.
