The new version of iTunes (8.2.1) blocks the syncing of electronics that are not part of the Apple fruit basket. Rightfully I suppose, Apple does not want customers of other mobile phones using iTunes to sync music on to their handsets. I find this fascist attitude by Apple to be not only irrelevant but also extremely petty. For one, every mobile phone I have owned over the last two years did not need third party music software to upload music. For example: my current Nokia E63 is a simple drag and drop system that only requires you to connect your USB Cable or activate your Bluetooth. Seconds of all, Apple’s ‘our way or the highway’ policy works with hardware, but certainly not software. People find ways to circumnavigate software blocks quickly, easily and with plenty of imagination. Apple will not only alienate people with this totalitarian ideology, they will also risk allowing competition back into a race that does not currently exist.
