A new iPhone app called TrafficTweet could become the saving grace for those who suffer from the riggers of city traffic. TrafficTweet is exactly what it sounds. Users post the traffic experiences in real time and other drivers can make use of this information to plan their driving route accordingly. Great in theory, but the heavy reliance on public charity could become a stumbling block. Let’s us assume that no more than 5% of TrafficTweet users will regularly update traffic information. (Most of us are lazy and never look at the big picture or long term success.) Will the 5% be enough to satisfy all TrafficTweet users? TrafficTweet is loaded with useful features, but being built so heavily on public support may prove to be its downfall. Also, what is preventing a prankster from purposefully alienating others by uploading faulty information? TrafficTweet runs for 99 cents in the app store which is a shame considering it is a community based service.
