    Kindle for iPhone Now Available

Amazon has launched a new app called Kindle for iPhone App. The Kindle for iPhone App (awkward name) allows iPhone and iPod owners to use their units as if they were Kindle devices. This is common sense on the part of Amazon, as due to cross platform technology; it would only be a matter of time until the Kindle became obsolete. Kindle for iPhone App is available in 60 countries around the world and will soon be available on BlackBerry devices as well via BlackBerry App World. The Kindle device itself, is the best selling reader on the market today and was designed by Amazon to allow users to purchase and read books available at Amazon.com. Kindle for iPhone App users, in addition to the massive amounts of literature they will be able to enjoy, can also download…

Could Apple Be Responsible for Poor AT&T Network Performance?

The left wing radicals over at the NY Times have written an article that claims that the iPhone may be responsible for the shortcomings in the AT&T network. AT&T has been rated dead last in consumer satisfaction recently, with many customers located in large metropolitan areas complaining about dropped calls and slow data transfer times. While AT&T has never complained about Apple or the iPhone, Roger Entner over at Nielsen had this to say: ‘the iPhone has the nimbus of infallibility, ergo, it's AT&T's fault’. This means that consumers automatically blame AT&T rather thane Apple for the problems at hand. How could Apple be responsible for the problems with the AT&T network you ask? Entner explains that the iPhone’s electronics that are responsible for connecting to AT&T…

    No More ATM Fees App

Tired of outrageous ATM fees? If you constantly take it up the bung hole every time you make a withdrawal and you happen to live in the great country of Canada, then you are in luck. Two Canadian banks, Scotiabank and TD Canada Trust, have teamed up to create a new iPhone app called No More ATM Fees. No More ATM Fees lets iPhone users located in Canada search their area for ATMs belonging to their bank. Canadians who use their own bank to withdraw money will not have to pay the $1.50 charge levied by the foreign bank. Sounds like one of the more useful apps to be released in the App Store over the last little while. No More ATM Fees is compatible with TD Canada Trust, Scotiabank, Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Bank of Montreal. Looks like…

South Koreans Purchase 60,000 iPhones on Opening Day

Looks like the South Koreans really like the iPhone. KT Corporation, the carrier responsible for bringing the iPhone to the sane and progressive portion of Korea has sold over 60,000 units on launch day. While the Smartphone market in South Korea makes up only 1% of the total mobile sales in the country, KT Corporation is hoping to change all that with the iPhone. Remember, it was the iPhone’s release in the Untied States that really pushed the Smartphone market into the forefront of the telecommunications industry. There are perhaps two main obstacles for a similar manifestation in South Korea to occur. 1) The average South Korean has lower purchasing power than the average American. This may make large scale purchasing of the iPhone by the South Korean public somewhat…

Apple Removes App Due to Fraudulent Reviews

Looks like I spoke too soon. The Aryan efficiency with which Apple runs their App Store has finally provided some positive results. Apparently, a rogue app developer, Molinker Inc, submitted over 40 fake five star reviews for their app called NightCam Pro. App Store bigwig Phil Schiller acted with swift and merciless action by not only removing the app in question, but also removing an additional 1900 apps created by Molinker. This is surely one of the few examples that Apples Third Reich approach to their app service actual carries some merit. An open source platform such as Android would probably not have acted as quickly to combat such an offense. Apple’s response to this event should raise a red flag to other app developers who are contemplating similar unethical…

Motorola Droid the Real iPhone Killer?

The Motorola Droid has been a massive success for Android, Motorola and Verizon. With sales of the Motorola Droid nearing 800,000 units in the Untied States, it would appear logical to assume that the Droid will surpass the one million milestone (no pun intended) by the end of Christmas. Several individuals in the mobile community have already dubbed the Motorola Droid as the real ‘iPhone Killer’. People are waiting for another handset to eclipse the iPhone with greater anticipation than their long and fruitless wait for the Messiah. Funny that the iPhone is so widely used, yet hated to such a degree. (Wait, isn’t there a company that makes a program called Windows that is hated even more?) Critics and consumers have been suffering from mobile envy when discussing the…

New Payment Technology for the iPhone

The man who has blessed us, our cursed us, with Twitter has just unveiled his newest invention that he hopes will change the way we conduct business on our mobile phones. Jack Dorsey, founder and current chairmen of Twitter, has launched a new startup technology called Square. Square allows mobile users, currently only for the iPhone, to send payments to other mobile users without requiring a credit card merchant. Dorsey called the service and company Square because of the small plastic device that needs to be attached to the iPhone in order for the service to work. Dorsey plans on charging one dollar for the application that must be download to use the service. However, the possibility exists that the actually square device that needs to be attached to the iPhone will…

eBuddy Available For The iPhone and iPod

The instant messaging service eBuddy, is now available on the iPhone and iPod Touch. eBuddy is a neat little app that allows users to combine multiple IM services into one package. For example, users can combine Windows Live and Facebook into a single interface, making it easier to handle several social networks at once. eBuddy is free to use, but does contain the usual annoying advertisements that we have all long since learned to ignore. To get rid of the pesky banners, a Pro version of eBuddy can be purchased for five dollars. Two cool features of the eBuddy is the ability to switch between social apps with a simply swipe of the screen and to nudge a contact by shaking the iPhone or iPod. Both nifty if you ask me, but I wonder how the latter works if you’re on a bus.…

iPhone #1 in Data Usage Worldwide

With iPhone users using their handsets to surf the web more and more, it wasn't a complete shock to discover that the iPhone is the leading source of Smartphone traffic in the world. What were surprising were the actual figures that show the amount of Smartphone traffic generated by each mobile operating system. The iPhone was number one with 50% of internet usage stemming from mobile phones, light years ahead of the second place Symbian, which is responsible for 25%. The last few months have seen Symbian lose ground in this department, in part to the emergence of Android based phones, especially the new and popular Motorola Droid. BlackBerry OS and Windows Mobile also lost ground, but their portion of overall traffic was only a small fraction to begin with. This study…
