The Smartphone wars in 2010 promise a never ending bout of heavyweight competition, as multi billion dollar corporations struggle to gain or maintain their share of the mobile market. The current reigning and defending, yet sometimes disputed champion, Apple, has continued to do well. Their latest fortune is coming from across the pond, as British carrier Vodafone reports a shortage in available iPhones, do to a stellar debut which saw 50,000 iPhones sold on the first day of availability. Google and Android are also stepping up the competition, with five more handsets announced by AT&T, all of which are scheduled to debut sometime during 2010. The Android shower of handsets entering the market has just been upgraded to a Hurricane. It will be very interesting to see if the Android can dethrone Apple by simple drowning the market in Android OS devices. 2010 is shaping up to be the most competitive year the mobile industry has seen thus far.
