Reports from several prominent Apple related blogs have stated that the mobile manufacturer will not longer be selling screen protectors in its retail locations. The new policy by Apple has raised several eyebrows in the mobile industry. Apple has not provided official statement for this new policy, but speculation has it that they don’t want consumers to believe that the iPhone screen is not durable enough to stand the riggers of day to day turbulence and mishap. Unofficial retailers will continue to provide screen savers to customers. While there may be some logic behind Apple’s move, it is another clear example of Apple’s policy, which is ‘we know better than you’. This is in line with the iTunes, App Store and just about every other creation that Apple has ever invented. The amount of iPhone users with screen protectors does not appear to be overwhelming, so even a minor backlash will probably be avoided.
