Some speculation regarding the name of the next iPhone is taking place in the blogosphere. Why we vest so much time and energy into these worthless debates is beyond me, but here we are. The thought that Apple will name the new iPhone ‘iPhone 4G’ does not carry much merit apparently. The reason for this is that there aren’t enough 4G networks out there for such a phone to be feasible. In the United States, only Sprint and Verizon have started deploying 4G networks and even they are only at the beginning stages. Of course, Apple could still call it the iPhone 4G and claim that it is technically a fourth generation iPhone, but that may serve to alienate some users who will only find out later what 4G is supposed to mean. My recommendation would be for Apple to call the phone iJob, in honor of their supreme overlord and monarch Steve Jobs.
