    Adobe Considers Apple Lawsuit

Adobe appears to be sharpening its fangs. Apple, having a no Flash policy for its products, has now gone one step further by blocking developers from creating Flash apps that can be compiled for iPhone use. This has angered many developers, but not nearly as much as it has angered Adobe. Rumors from around the blogosphere and beyond have indicated that Adobe is getting ready to launch a legal fight in a response to Apple’s move to block Flash. While I sympathize with Adobe, I don’t think they have a legal leg to stand on. Apple has a right to prevent other businesses from incorporating their products. There really is no comparison to the Microsoft Anti Trust scenario of a few years ago. Apple does not control enough of the market. In addition, we now live in an age…

    Kin One and Two Unveiled

Microsoft has unveiled two new social networking phones called the KIN One and Two respectively. These two new handsets are geared towards adolescents who enjoy wasting away their lives with social networking. The KIN devices are tailored for social networking, with such services as Facebook and Twitter built in, allowing the user to quickly access and exploit the services on these devices. While this may be a blessing in disguise for social nut jobs, it does not fit the demographic that enjoys applications. The KIN One and Two cannot download applications of any kind via an app store or market. Instead, users will only have access to services that are offered directly from Microsoft. Will these phones be a hit? Perhaps they will be amongst pimply faced youths, but are…

BlackBerry Bold 9700 Coming Soon in White

If you like white and want to purchase a BlackBerry, then you will be happy to learn that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is now available in white. The Bold 9700 is considered a top of the line BlackBerry model that features Wi-Fi, 3G and a built in GPS. (This helps homeland security and other hush-hush organizations when they attempt to spy on.) White has never been one of my preferred colors for mobile phones and other electronics. White shows signs of aging much faster than other colors, not to mention stains from rush lunches during the workday. The white version of the Bold 9700 will soon be available online from T-Mobile in America and Carphone Warehouse in England. Should you buy this phone? Not really unless you were looking to purchase a Bold 9700 already. As much as…

    Opera Mini Now Available

Apple has finally approved the Opera Mini mobile browser for the iPhone and iPod. It took some silent prayers from Opera fans and crossed fingers throughout the blogosphere, but Apple has finally given the go ahead. The Opera Mini is now available for download via the App Store. Early feedback has been extremely positive, with some users vowing never to use Apple’s Safari browser ever again. Opera for mobile remembers previous pages and is much faster than Safari. (According to some users.) One drawback however is that Safari will remain the default browser. Email links for example will always been opened in Safari. This is a way for Apple to ensure that users will still interact with their pitiful excuse for a mobile browser. Opera has become a popular web browser, but…

    Palm Buyout Likely

Palm has officially thrown itself at the mercy of the market; desperate to find a buyer before it disintegrates. Palm CEO Jon Rubenstein admitted that launching the Palm Pre exclusively on Sprint was a major mistake. He further commented that the Palm Pre is superior to the Motorola Droid and would have enjoyed more financial success had it been available via North America’s largest carrier. Rubenstein thus admits that it was not the Pre itself that has placed Palm in this financial toilet, but rather his own incompetence as a business man. Reports from Bloomberg have Dell snubbing such a buyout, but HTC and Lenovo are considering the acquisition. Whoever buys Palm will not only receive rights to the Palm, Pixi and WebOS, but several patents that Palm has for mobile…

Football Manager Coming to the iPhone

Football Manager Simulations have certainly developed a cult following over the last decade. Countless hours have been joyously wasted scouring the transfer market for that hidden youth destined to be a superstar or those last minute changes before an important fixture. (Fixture means match for those of us west of the pond.) Now Sports Interactive, arguably the leader in football manager games is coming to the iPhone. How exactly SI made all of the information from the computer version available on the iPhone is a mystery. Football Manager is jammed with loads of information that is essential when playing. The iPhone’s small screen can certainly makes this a challenge. If SI created a watered down version of Football Manager, they may alienate some fans who make the…

    Truphone for the iPad

An application called Truphone allows iPad users to make phone calls via Wi-Fi. All iPad models come included with Wi-Fi connectivity, thus in theory allowing any iPad user when connected to the internet to make a free phone call to other Truphone users, as well as cheap phone calls to mobile phones or landlines aboard. The reason we used the word ‘theory’ in the previous sentence is because the iPad Wi-Fi is so crappy that any VoIP application may not prove to be practical. Apple has not been able to solve the Wi-Fi connectivity problem so far and there is serious concern that the issue cannot be resolved with a simple upgrade, but rather by replacing the antenna in the iPad itself. Until this problem is rectified, Truphone for the iPad may not be feasible. However,…

One Million Downloads for PayPal Mobile

Released only three weeks ago for the iPhone and already one million downloads - an impressive amount for the app in question, which is none other than PayPal. "One million downloads shows just how ready people are to live a cashless and card-free culture with their wallet living safely in the cloud," says PayPal's VP of platform and emerging technology Osama Bedier. Osama and his buddies are likely racking the bucks as iPhone users everywhere are using PayPal to make impulse purchases and drive themselves further into the poor house. PayPal mobile comes with a few more bells and whistles, such as transferring money to another iPhone user by bumping iPhones together. (How kinky)

PayPal is the leading online money transfer service in the world. The…

Vodafone has 100 Million Subscribers in India

Vodafone, long proficient at exploiting third world countries for financial gain, has announced that it has 100 million subscribers in India. Vodafone is the third wireless provider in the country to reach the milestone, after Airtel and Reliance respectively. Vodafone is the largest international wireless communication provider in the world and has been accused of pillaging many African nations and others in Asia. The merits of this accusation are certainly argumentative, but what isn’t, is Vodafone’s success in the wireless industry. A technical innovator and business leader, Vodafone now has over 333 million subscribers world wide. This means that nearly one third of its customer base comes from India. Let’s keep in mind that India is still an extremely improvised…

    OnTrack Diabetes App for Android

My brother is diabetic. Thus, I know first hand exactly the trials and hardships faced by carriers of this terrible and incurable disease. With the emergence of more advanced technology, applications for mobile phones that aid us medically are a natural manifestation. OnTrack Diabetes is an Android application that helps those with diabetes keep track of many important statistics and keep an accurate history of their condition. OnTrack Diabetes helps manage medicine, food intake and other important data that can help ensure healthy and better living. Until we find a cure for this and other ailments, apps like OnTrack Diabetes are an undisguised blessing. We may rant and shake our fists at how decadent our society has become due to technology, but this is a classic…
