    Verizon Wants the iPhone

Everybody wants a piece of the pie… er apple. Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg recently stated that they want to carry the iPhone and that their network can handle it. (Possibly a shot at AT&T.) Verizon appears to be willing to endure an anal ravaging from Apple in order to get the iPhone to its consumers. Such an unholy marriage would certainly benefit Apple, though unit sales would probably not skyrocket. One reason that Apple would be interested in offering the iPhone via Verizon, is strong Android sales that threaten Apple’s runner up status in the Smartphone industry. (RIM still controls 42% of the market.) Apple can’t remain closed forever. Eventually they will have no choice but to embrace other companies and technologies in the mobile industry. If they stay with this…

    iPad Has Serious Wi-Fi Issues

First generation products can often be a nightmare when it comes to technical glitches. The iPad is no exception when it comes to this type of headache. Frustrated iPad owners have voiced their concerns on the internet regarding the iPad’s Wi-Fi connection ability. Apple has downplayed this serious ailment by offering a lame and impractical solution.

    From the Apple Website:
 Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name.
 Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.
 Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on)
If the issue persists, reset your…

    Motorola Devour Available from Verizon

The Motorola Devour is now available via Verizon, both online and at Verizon stores. The Devour has been dubbed by some as the little brother of the Motorola Droid. The price for this touchscreen handset will be $150 after mail in rebate and a two year contract, with which you agree to the whims of Verizon and acknowledge that you will submit to weekly sessions of painful and degrading sodomy. (Unless you’re a porn star, this is not something that should be happening in your life too often.) The Devour runs on the Android 1.6 operating system and comes with a 3 Megapixel camera. It is more the retarded cousin of the Droid than its little brother. Will I be buying the Devour? The answer is no. I firmly believe that you should either buy the best phone available, or the…

New Robin Hood Game for the iPhone

Game developer Nordcurrent has released a new action game called Robin Hood: The Return of Richard. Developed for the iPhone and iPod, the latest reincarnation of Robin Hood sees the popular brigand and his merry and fruity band of men take on the evil Sherriff of Nottingham, while King Richard is off somewhere, doing something else. 12 levels of action filled with tights and bow strings are featured in this game. I have always been a fan of Robin Hood, but I just can’t help but feel a bit metro (ya, we’ll use the word metro) when playing games that feature the medieval hero. Too many men in tight pants wondering around in the forest, chasing other men and impaling them with all sorts of long and protruding objects makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable. No price has been…

    Games for the iPad

The release of the iPad is drawing near and with it, more and more speculation and rumor. Some well known video game publishers have started to reveal titles they plan on releasing for the iPad soon after its launch. Screenshots have been made available and are not very impressive to say the least. While it is difficult to judge a book by its cover, and a screenshot is not ideal when judging a video game of any kind, it does give you a decent first impression about the kind of game that is going to be released. From what I have seen, there are plenty of puzzle and platform games that are sure to dishearten the average gamer. Even though most of us were smart enough to realize that the iPad is not going to be a gaming Mecca, Apple’s hype has perhaps fooled us slightly…

    Digg Coming to the iPhone

A few screenshots of the soon to be released Digg iPhone application can be found at dailymobile.se. Digg, the social networking monstrosity that is partially responsible for the overflow of useless information that is dominating our daily lives, will now encroach upon the fertile lands of the App Store. Great. Now annoying Digg users can post their articles at any time and continue to harass those of us that feel as if our brain is about to explode from information overload. Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and now Digg. I may very well slit my throat before I finish writing this short rant. Not really sure about Digg for the Android and BlackBerry and to be honest, I don’t really care. The word ‘Digg’ is actually very fitting. You literally have to dig through tons of horse…

First 4G Phone Unveiled by Sprint

Sprint has unveiled their first, and the first, 4G phone in the United States. Dubbed the HTC Evo4G, the device made its debut yesterday in Las Vegas at the CTIA 2010. The HTC Evo4G comes with top of the line specifications, including two cameras, a 1GHz processor and a 4.3 inch display. As for the 4G, the jury is still out. According to Sprint, 4G is ten times faster than optimal 3G speeds. However, the times ten factor also takes the optimal 4G speeds into consideration. It remains to be seen how fast a Sprint user in the middle of desolate corn country will be able to download. In any case, Sprint is starting to parade the HTC Evo4G as the second coming. No price has been released and I shudder to think of the type of contract Sprint will demand. AT&T and Verizon are…

    iPad to Save Comics?

I saw a nice little comic about the iPad recently at http://www.appleiphoneschool.com. It was rather humoristic, but it also succeeded in getting the old rusty wheels in my brain to go on a workout. Will the iPad prove to be a boost for the struggling comic book industry? (I am talking about the actual comics and not blockbuster movies like X-Men and Spiderman.) My answer is both yes and no and here’s why:

    Yes

-Downloading a subscription is easier than going to a comic book store.

-The graphic potential and emersion are far greater with a technical device than a book or piece of paper.

    No

-Collectors will suffer. Having an entire run of Batman on your iPad just isn’t the same as having it on a shelf in your…

HTC Desire Now Available in the UK

Brits who want to get their hands on the HTC Desire can now do so via the T-Mobile website. This is contrary to a previous T-Mobile announcement which stated that the Desire will become available on March 26. T-Mobile has also promised that the HTC Desire will become available in stores on March 29. Those of you wishing not to sign a contract with the devil known as T-Mobile, will soon have the luxury of a different devil in the wireless industry, as the Desire is scheduled to become available on all major British carriers in the near future. No word as of yet regarding the crippling contract the potential customers will be forced to sign in order not to pay outlandish fees upfront. The HTC Desire is another in the long line of handsets from the Taiwanese manufacturer…

New Pad to Debut in April?

Big news out of Deutschland boy and girls. A German tech firm called Neofonie is set to release a pad in Germany next month. Dubbed the WePad, specifications are superior to that of the iPad if you believe the current information in the blogosphere. The WePad has a 1.66 GHz processor and is powered by Android. In addition, the WePad will come equipped with USB ports, a SIM slot and MircoSD slot, not to mention Flash capabilities. (Thank God!) An Android operating system will mean that multitasking will be available, which will certainly come in handy when you are using the WePad’s camera. (You hear that Steve? That damn thing has a camera.) I would be shocked if the WePad has better visuals than the iPad, but everything else, from price to specs should favor WePad…
