HTC Droid Incredible Selling like Hotcakes

It looks like the HTC Droid Incredible is a big hit so far. Verizon has reported nationwide shortages, though the device appears to be available online. The Droid Incredible was much hyped by many in the mobile industry, with some going as far as to dub it ‘the real iPhone killer’. Whether or not this moniker becomes a reality remains to be seen, but initial sales reports are very encouraging. Of course, it helps to be on the Verizon network when it comes to market exposure and availability. Best Buy apparently still has some Droid Incredible in stock, with a price tag of $200 with a two year contract. HTC continues to out do itself with every new device and the Android operating system is proving once again that it is the premier operating system in the mobile…

    HP Buys Palm

Palm is no more. That is the word from Wall Street after HP purchased 1.2 billion USD worth of common stock in Palm. Jon Rubenstein will apparently be staying around after the transfer is complete by the end of July. Palm was in serious financial peril over the last year and rumors of a potential buyout were rampant over the last several months. Soon to be former CEO Jon Rubenstein stated in several prominent publications that he would consider any offer. While Palm does not offer any industry leading devices for HP, it does offer numerous patents for HP to wield in its future endeavors in the mobile realm. Half of Palm’s patents are contested by other companies however, so it is not apparent how useful they will be to Palm. Anything can happen between now and the end…

Sprint to Carry the Nexus One?

While Verizon has given the Google Nexus One the boot, Sprint still seems interested in adding Google’s recent offspring to its lineup. Talks are apparently heating up between Google and Sprint regarding an agreement that will see Sprint customers being offered Google’s pride and joy in the mobile industry. However, Verizon dumped the Nexus One because it was set to launch another Android powered phone called the Droid Incredible and now Sprint is facing the same dilemma. The HTC EVO 4G is heading to Sprint and with higher specifications than the Nexus One and a comparable price to that of the Droid Incredible, it is unclear why Sprint would also want to carry the Nexus One. Google apparently does not believe that this is a problem because the EVO 4G runs on the WiMAX…

    iTunes Bashed by Telegraph

I have now lost all respect for a British publication called the Telegraph. (Well, not all respect, just some.) The reason for my decline in faith is due to a recent article publishing the ten worst inventions by Apple. iTunes was at the top of the list, with the Telegraph providing the following logic for this placement: There’s no free music-streaming element, no Zune-like wireless syncing, the store’s pricing strategy has come under pressure from rivals, and the iTunes platform itself is derided by many as slow and prone to crashes. Even the occasional new feature – such as the Genius feature, to create playlists of “songs that go great together” – cannot stop iTunes from feeling like a tired piece of software that’s a step behind other music services. Apple fans…

    Vodafone 845 Powered by Android

Vodafone has announced that it will soon be releasing their first Android phone. The Huawei manufactured Vodafone 845 will be initially released in 12 Vodafone markets and promises to deliver a superior mobile web experience. (According to Vodafone that is.) Patrick Chomet, Group Director of Terminals said, "In February we launched the world's cheapest handset. Today we are again breaking new ground. I'm proud to be announcing the 845, Vodafone's first own branded Android Smartphone. It runs the very latest Android 'Eclair' software and shows our commitment and ability to take high-end trends and make them an affordable option for many." Patrick, perhaps it isn’t such a good idea to be constantly reminding consumers that you specialize in cheap ass devices.…

    Android 2.2 Coming with Flash

Unlike Apple, which seems to consider Flash as an extreme form of kryptonite, Android 2.2 will come with Flash as standard. Google big wig Andy Rubin confirmed that Android 2.2 will come automatically with Flash, but failed to mention if the Flash version will be the coveted 10.1. No release date for the Android 2.2 has been announced, but reports indicate that Flash 10.1 will not be released until the winter of 2010. In addition, it is unknown which handsets will received the update and which ones will be forced to wait. Some ire was raised amongst the HTC faithful, who have been doomed to wait longer for Android OS updates than other users. In any case, the Google and Adobe marriage is becoming more and more intertwined as they days go by, which in part will mean that…

Apple sells over One Million iPads

Apple has sold over one million iPads. That is the number given Chitika Labs. This means that over one million peasants obediently listened to their overlord and supreme ruler Steve Jobs and went out to purchase one. The main reason for the success of the iPad has nothing to do with the iPad, but rather with the demented iLife terminology that Apple has used to brainwash and enslave millions of helpless peons. The iPad is an ingenious device and a breakthrough in interactive technology, but even the best product in the world, which the iPad is not, should not have seen these kinds of sales figures. Apple is riding the wave of our fad driven society, where things are imperative because they are trendy and not because they are meritorious. Apple is engaging in legal…

Dell to Release Android Netbooks and Slate

According to recent reports, Dell is scheduled to become a bed buddy of the Android by 2011. A whole slew of Android powered devices scheduled for release have recently surfaced on Android Central. Dell is apparently keen on a Greek theme, with the three phones in question called the Sparta, Athens and Looking Glass HD. Odd names that are certainly not guaranteed to be used once the devices are released, but definitely better than the Droid Incredible. (Stupid and not catchy in my opinion.) The Sparta and Athens are netbooks, while the Looking Glass is a tablet device with a TV Tuner and an HD display. Dell is apparently hell bent on releasing more wireless devices than anyone else in 2011 and this impressive trio is certainly taking them in the right direction. All of…

    Police Raid Gizmodo Blogger’s Home

It has been reported that Apple is starting to flex some major muscle regarding the stolen 4G iPhone. Police have raided the home of Gizmodo blogger Jason Chen, seizing several electronic devices. The COO of Gizmodo owned Gawker Media argued that the search and seizer is illegal under California State law because Jason Chen is a journalist and is protected by the publication. This is completely irrational thought. Gizmodo committed a crime when they took apart and reported about a product that was not theirs. In addition, Gizmodo knew that the prototype iPhone was stolen and in effect, collaborated with the criminal in order to publish the story. I am not saying for a second that Gizmodo didn’t try to provide an honest service to its readership. However, they knew full…

Call for More Transparency from Apple

A laughable and pathetic movement is growing in the mobile industry. Journalists and developers are calling for a more transparent App Store. While this is a wet dream for us all, the mere thought that the clandestine Apple would even consider such a move is beyond imaginable. This movement was started in part after the cartoon debacle involving a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist named Mark Fiore. Apparently, his cartoon application was rejected for questionable humor towards political figures. A bunch of angry cartoonists attacked Apple with an angry letter. “The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists calls on Apple to immediately stop rejecting apps because they ‘ridicule public figures’ and are deemed ‘objectionable,” the association wrote. “Now is the time…
