Civilization Revolution Now Available for Free

Civilization is beyond a doubt one of the best video games of all time. With all the hype and hoopla surrounding Starcraft 2, it would be prudent to remind Blizzard fanboys that for all its bluster, the game itself is but mere shadow when compared to Sid Meier’s masterpiece. The only thing better than Civilization, is Civilization for free. Civilization Revolution is now available for free in the App Store. When first released, the game was priced at five dollars. Currently however, Civilization Revolution publisher 2K Games is offering the application free of charge. While the iPhone installment of the turn based strategy game is obviously no where near as in depth as the PC versions, it is still a must have for fans of the series and for those looking to get…

CNET App Available for the iPhone

For a website that claims to be ahead of the curve with all things technology, it sure did take CNET a long time to create an application for the iPhone. The time has arrived however, and the tech information and news provider has released an iPhone application that will feature all of the latest news and opinions from the world of high-tech. CNET is considered to be one of the world’s foremost leaders in hardware and software news reporting and many consider it to be the ultimate news source for everything from mobile phones to computer gadgets. Some have accused CNET of being too biased and subjective in their reporting, while others have criticized reporters for being more journalist than tech guru and thus, not having a strong grasp of basic technological concepts.…

School Gets Sued for Searching Student’s Phone

An angry Texan is looking to cash in on a mistake made by a high school called MacArthur, in a town called Irving. The scandal took place when school administrators and a police officer asked one Madelyn Beaird, a student at MacArthur High School, to allow them to search her phone in order to solve a crime involving a gun and several keyed automobiles. The father of the student is suing for 7.5 million dollars. The conniving jackal is not even hiding the fact that this is a quick cash grab. “I remember back when hot coffee was spilled in the McDonald’s law suit. They were awarded $4.5 M. I said you know, I guess a constitutional right is worth at least $4M today. It is worth at least a cup of coffee,” said the ‘concerned’ parent. Does the lawsuit have legs? I’m no…

FBI Going after Prepaid Cell Phone Users

In an attempt to destroy any remaining freedom that was once the hallmark of American society, the FBI has endorsed a proposal by the Senate Judiciary Committee that would require prepaid cell phone buyer’s information records be kept in a similar fashion to standard cell phone purchases. As of right now, drug dealers and other rogues use prepaid cell phones because it is more difficult to discover their personal information and identity. It seems that the FBI and the Federal Government have forgotten one of the most famous quotes in American history. ‘They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.’ Unfortunately, such independent thinking has long since evaporated and is now more myth than fact. It is…

    Introducing: The New Cleavage Phone

Bras have been holding and supporting women’s breasts for years. However, this past World Cup has seen a new trend that many men are extremely fond of. That spicy new trend is women placing their mobile phone in their bra or top. Certainly a logical question to ask would be if the woman in this picture has ever heard of a purse, but there is nothing logical about men when it comes to our life long pursuit of the fairer sex. (That means women.) In any case, we are more than happy that this Paraguayan model has decided to place a mobile device in her very revealing top. Why we find this arousing is unclear. After all, we would still admire those nice melons even if there wasn’t a cell phone tucked in between them. I guess the combination of technology and cleavage is a…

    Another Celebrity, Another BlackBerry

Having ranted and ranted about all things serious in the mobile industry, I thought a nice light hearted change was in order. A rather lengthy and annoying trend has been occurring in recent years about celebrity sightings and their BlackBerry devices. At what time did it become cool to own a BlackBerry as a celebrity is unclear, but pictures of the Hollywood crowd with their BlackBerry are all over the net. The latest sighting is that of Khloe Kardashian with a Bold 9700. The picture quite funny as one could get the impression that the talentless starlet is unable to properly work the device. Then again, she could be trying to read a text message, which that in itself is probably a challenge for all of the Kardashian clan. Obviously this is a lame jest on my part, but…

ESPN Radio App Available for Android

Sports nuts that enjoy watching and listening to ESPN can now stay tuned to their favorite sports media outlet even more. ESPN is now offering a radio application for the Android operating system. The ESPN Radio App is not free, costing $4.99 in order to download and access. The application will include live radio, access to ESPN podcasts, news updates and a handy feature that allows users to text their favorite show and give their often deranged, but nevertheless interesting, opinions. Sounds like ESPN have put together a solid app for its listeners. The only question is the price tag of $4.99. Not saying that the app isn’t worth the money, but with the information overflow we are experiencing in today’s world, it is questionable whether or not people are willing to…

Twitter App Now Available for BlackBerry

Twitter fans will now be able to enjoy the time guzzling social service on their BlackBerry devices. The Twitter application was in beta since April and is now available to the public at large as a free application on the BlackBerry App World. Twitter will support several languages including Portuguese, Japanese, Indonesian, Russian, Turkish, Dutch and Korean, in addition to English. The new Twitter app also includes several functions that will certainly appeal to the brainwashed masses who enjoy using Twitter on a daily basis. Even Prima Donna basketball star Chris Bosh has been using Twitter to update his fans on the comings and goings of his free agent summer experience. This is an exciting time for Twitter that is apparently scheduled to go public in the near…

    New Diamond iPhone 4

It didn’t take long for some pompous ass to make a ‘rich man's’ version of the iPhone 4. The new Diamond iPhone 4 is made of…well…. diamonds – in part anyways. The mastermind behind this beautiful and completely unnecessary device is a man by the name of Stuart Hughes. The Diamond iPhone 4 costs about $15,000 and is very prestigious as only 50 devices are planned for production. The reason only 50 devices are planned is because only 50 saps world wide would buy such a device. It makes me a bit irritated when I think about people who have nothing better to do with their money than buy a $15,000 phone. That being said, I could be bitter because I am not one of those who will probably ever be able to spend that much money on a mobile device. On the other hand, I am pretty…

UK to Ban Mobile Phones in the Classroom?

A proposed new law in Britain could see teachers legally allowed to confiscate mobile devices if they believe that they are a distraction in the classroom. The proposed law was brought forth by Education Secretary Michael Grove and received massive support from educators throughout the country. While this law is sound in theory and it cannot be argued that Secretary Grove means well, it is just another example of how British ideals are out of sync with society. Contemporary culture is moving in the direction that the use of mobile phones is acceptable in almost any environment. Most places of employment as well as public establishments such as grocery stores, libraries and even government offices are no longer prohibiting their use. The most important goal of any…
