    Apple and AT&T Extend Marriage

They would be the envy of every married couple in the western hemisphere. AT&T and Apple have gotten along better than Bert and Ernie – so it’s really no surprise that AT&T managed to seduce Apple into accepting an extension of their exclusivity agreement until 2010. Similarly to the deal struck between the Germans and the Japanese back in the day, it appears that this mobile axis of evil has no qualms about continue their dictator like status over the North American cell phone market. Currently, Apple makes a cool three bills over every unit they give to AT&T, who then proceeds to dangle these babies in front of iPhone crack addicts. It will be interesting to see what happens once this demonic marriage finally runs its course, even though this unholy union could very…

    Silent Camera for the BlackBerry

If you’re the type of guy that enjoys taking pictures clock and dagger style, then BerryCoder has exactly what you need. It is a new freeware program called PeekABoo that allows BlackBerry users to take pictures in complete silence. Logic dictates that this feature would appeal to international men of mystery, suspicious spouses and perverts who enjoy taking pictures of women’s rumps in public. While there’s no denying the plausible merits of the PeekABoo, it does raise some moral questions that need to be addressed. (Though this may not be the right article to do so) The installation of the PeekABoo appears simple enough and after an upload and a few simple adjustments, you should be snapping silently, without fear of being discovered. So if over the next little…

    Mobile Google Map

If you live in one of the few cities on this planet with tolerable public transportation, you may be interested to learn that Google has released a new program for Symbian call Transit. This handy program will help you plan the best possible route by public transport and is smart enough to tell you which bus or subway lines to take and when you will arrive at the desired destination. (More or less) The service is available mainly throughout the United States and the United Kingdom for the time being. The service is also available in the following European cities: Bordeaux, Maubeuge, Firenze, Genova, Torino, and a few others. Japanese and Swiss national transport has also been added to the Google Transit database. The Transit program could be a gem for tourists using…

    Mobile Olympic Coverage

Arguably the most hyped and controversial Olympics in history, the upcoming Beijing games will take mobile coverage and news to a whole new level. NBC has promised a whole slew of coverage including medal news, Team USA profiles and voting polls. For sports fans who don’t like to read, NBC will also include pictures of the events and video recaps for select cell phones. Interested users can immerse themselves in this service by texting 51515 to “Olympics" or by visiting http://mobile.nbcolympics.com/ in their mobile browser. NBC’s wireless coverage of the Beijing Olympics looks to be very informative and entertaining, yet it remains to be seen exactly what kind mobile device will be able to take advantage of this service. Obviously video content will only be…

    Become a Travel Genius

Russian mobile content developer HeroCraft has created a rather interesting piece of software designed to increase the geographical knowledge of cell phone users. The game, called Travel Genius, helps users discover capitols, oceans, cities, forests and just about every other geographical trait out there. For all its depth, Travel Genius targets beginners and the content will probably not challenge the geographically able. Travel Genius is played in quiz format and comes in two main playing styles – Simple and timed. It is quite robust with over 700 locations sprawled over six maps. (Sorry Antarctica) There is also an arcade addition to Travel Genius, but HeroCraft has not disclosed too much information about the add on. Travel Guide, scheduled for release on the 25th…

    Cell phone Cowboy

There has always been something romantic about the Wild West for those in the Far East. This fixation has recently made its way into the cellular field when Strapya World released its “Ghetto Japanese Cell phone Holster.” The Holster comes with a quick draw capability for some reason and only God truly knows the dire cultural affects this will have on the Japanese cell phone culture. Hailing from Osaka, (fitting because it’s Japan’s entertainment capitol) the Ghetto Japanese Cell Phone Holster is adjustable for cell phones of different sizes and costs a reasonable $25. (That depends on what you consider reasonable though) Leave it to the Japanese to invent something super cool that may end up being totally impractical, faddish and ultra corny. That doesn’t mean people…

iPhone and BlackBerry to Get Slacker Radio

Slacker is set to launch an app that will allow iPhone and BlackBerry users to stream its content and cache – similar to iTunes podcasting. Slacker allows customization so users can quickly and easily find content that appeals to their specific interests. Slacker claims that there new service has superior sound quality when compared to similar products on the market. Slacker vice president Jonathan Sasse politically declined to be specific when asked whether or not Slacker would soon be featured on the iPhone and BlackBerry, but did reveal that his company would soon be launching their radio service on several prominent mobile devices. It remains unclear if Slacker will be available to mobile customers outside the United States. Currently, internet surfers who enter…

    Phone Racing

The newest and possibly weirdest trend right now in the cell phone world may very well be taking place in Sweden. It’s called Phone Racing and it is exactly how it sounds. Two competitors go head to head using the vibrators on their cell phones, with the winner being the owner of the phone that crosses the finish line first. The surfaces and tracks being used for Phone Racing vary greatly - from the more conventional table tops and stairs, to the more adventurous backyards and dirt roads. The Swedes apparently have no qualms about allowing their cell phones to take a savage beating and it appears that the durability factor has become a major decision when purchasing a cell phone in the Nordic north. Phone Racing has yet to travel the globe and it remains to be seen if…

    Blackberry Windows Goes Live

It was certainly inevitable – with the inevitable being Microsoft’s recent announcement of the first ever Windows Live Messenger for the Blackberry. Up until this point, Blackberry customers used the phone’s mobile IM as their primary messaging platform. Utilizing the Blackberry Push technology, the new Windows Live will allow users to send files, display pictures and pretty much do anything else similar to the desktop version of Windows Live Messenger. Blackberry manufacturer Research in Motion and Microsoft have made the Windows Live Messenger available in Arabic, Chinese (China), Chinese (Taiwan), Czech, Dutch (Netherlands), English, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. The merger between the cell…
