Get ready for war Apple. Carphone Warehouse and O2 across the pond have announced that they will begin to offer a new Dell slate as of June 2, called Streak. The Android powered tablet will be available for ‘free’ for those willing to either to make acommitment to a broadband contract or unlimited data contract, with both services costing between 25 GBP and 35 GBP a month respectively. The Dell Streak comes with a rather small 5.5 inch display, but does run Android 2.2 and Flash 10.1. Those wishing to purchase the Streak outright could do so for 429 GBP. Up until know, the iPad has not really encountered any competition. But unlike the iPhone, the iPad will not enjoy a grace period of almost two years. The longevity and practically of the iPad will be tested on several occasions this year with the Dell slate being the first to test its mettle against Steve Jobs and the citadel over at Cupertino.
