Lawsuit against Apple over Reception Issues?

The buzzards are already starting to circle around Cupertino. Due to the serious iPhone 4 reception problems that have plagued the launch of the next generation device, scumbag lawyers are looking at cashing in on Apple’s misfortune. "If you recently purchased the new iPhone and have experienced poor reception quality, dropped calls and weak signals, we would like to hear from you," said the law firm Kershaw Cutter & Ratinoff who are poised to strike at what they probably perceive to be a lucrative opportunity. I wonder how many spineless jellyfish have already answered the call. If any have, then they should be ashamed of themselves. If you have a problem, then go to Apple and deal with it, but don’t try to weasel some cash into your pocket without allowing…

New Hulu App for the iPhone

The television streaming service called Hulu is now available on the iPhone. This free application will allow iPhone users to watch television shows on their iPhone. Hulu can be downloaded for free, but is limited in the selection of television content that can be viewed without purchasing a Hulu Plus subscription which will run at $10 a month. The Hulu Plus has a large selection of shows that will keep the average television buff occupied on many a bus ride home. However, the success of Hulu Plus is does not entirely rest on the company's shoulders. With mobile industry shift into purchasing content online, (apps, iTunes, etc…) it is possible that Hulu will not be able to make its way into the budget considerations of many potential customers. Companies are fighting…

    Nokia N8 Destined to Fail

A prominent British blog posted an entire article about the new Nokia N8, ranting and raving about all of the amazing features and accessories. I will now take the time to once again repeat what I have said many times on this blog. The technical specifications themselves are no longer the most important facets determining the success of a device. Rather, it is the available content that is the most imperative. Until Symbian improves itself tenfold regarding the type, availability and distribution of applications, Nokia will continue to lose ground in the Smartphone market segment. The Nokia N8 uses Symbian 3? Who cares! As longs as the applications themselves are inferior to what the App Store, Android Market and BlackBerry World have to offer, Nokia could make the…

    Here Comes the Droid X

On July 15 another mobile heavyweight is a set to hit the market. Its name Droid X, its carrier Verizon. If Steve Jobs and company were becoming concerned over the crowded mobile market, then they are probably soiling their trousers because of the Droid X. Motorola’s newest bad boy, the Droid X comes with a huge 4.3 inch TFT display, an 8MP Camera and an HD video camera. It comes standard with 32GB of memory, the much heralded Android 2.2 operating system and surround sound. This phone packs a serious punch and we are assuming will come at a hefty price tag. On paper, the Droid X can go toe-to-toe with the EVO 4G and the iPhone 4 with ease. However, Motorola is still considered a ‘b’ level manufacturer by some, though that bias decreased with the Motorola Droid which…

Make an Informed Dump with Toilet Finder

There is nothing worse than walking along, minding your own business, and then suddenly feeling an agonizing bowel movement that needs to be addressed with all due haste. Now ladies and gentlemen, there is an app for that. A French company (leave it to the French to come up with something like this) called BeTomorrow has created a new application for the iPhone and Android called Toilet Finder which will guide users to the nearest facilities in North America and Europe. There are over 76,000 registered locations and Toilet Finder uses GPS in order to reveal the nearest location where you can drop the ‘bomb’. There is also a user rating and pictures to help make an informed decision regarding which bathroom to use. If you have the luxury of taking the time make that…

Apple Claims to Have Solved Reception Problems with the iPhone 4

After being bashed by pundits and users regarding their reaction to the ‘death grip’ problem with the iPhone 4, Apple has announced that the problem could be solved shortly with the release of the iOS 4.01. The problem in question is the poor reception that iPhone 4 users experienced when gripping the lower left hand corner of the device. Apple believes that this is a software problem and is apparently releasing a firmware update today that should hopefully rectify this unfortunate situation. Steve Jobs had mentioned earlier that users were simply not holding the iPhone correctly. However, there was enough of a public outrage over that comment that Apple has instead decided to do the right thing and create a fix. Let us just hope that the problem will be solved. If it…

Android 2.2 Coming Soon to the HTC EVO 4G

Sprint has issued the following statement regarding the operating system upgrade of the HTC EVO 4G: “As work on finalizing the software is under way, Sprint expects to launch Android 2.2 in the near future. Future devices launching with Android 2.1 will also be updated to Android 2.2. The Samsung Moment and HTC Hero will not receive an Android 2.2 update.” The new version of Android features a faster browser, better frames per second and new tools for Android developers. The HTC EVO 4G has been a huge hit for Sprint, with the devices being sold out constantly in the United States. The soon to be released and highly touted Droid X by Motorola means that Google and Android are flying high at the moment. This momentum should help as Apple continues to lead the pack in the…

iPhone 4 in White Available Late July

It looks like fans of the white iPhone can now relax. Apple has announced that a white version of the iPhone 4 will be available in late July. This is about a month after the official release of the black iPhone 4. The reason for the delay is a result of some unexpected manufacturing difficulties encountered with the white iPhone 4. I am not sure what the color of the phone has to do with mechanical issues, but I won’t claim to be an expert in the subject. The black iPhone 4 has officially been released and is now available in Apple stores everywhere. Black, white, red or whatever other kind of color you can imagine, there is no doubt that the iPhone 4 is going to be a big hit. The only real question is how much of a success will it end up being? As big a success as the…

    160,000 Android Units Sold Daily

It is getting more and more difficult to dispute that fact that Google will soon become king and undisputed ruler of the mobile industry. Google has reported that it is selling more than 160,000 Android powered devices everyday, a figure that is not only impressive, but expected to increase over the coming months. Despite amazing sales in North America, Android phones have not caught the eye of the average consumer in Europe and Asia. Mobile chieftain at Google, Andy Rubin, is keeping his sights firmly on the Chinese market where he believes there is strong market potential for smartphones located at the lower end of the price spectrum. The latest Android device that is hitting the market is the Motorola Droid X. The Droid X is being offered by Verizon and is scheduled…

Telus Brings Nokia E72 to Canada

Better late than never I guess. Telus has announced that it will be making the Nokia E72 available to customers in Canada. The Nokia E72 has proven to be a workhorse of sorts in the mobile industry and many companies have given the device to employees. From a corporate perspective, the Nokia E72 offers numerous tools and services that are geared towards corporate life and responsibility, at a price that is considered affordable by most. That being said, the Nokia E72 is hardly today’s technology and it is starting to show its age when compared to devices that have hit the market over the last six months. Sporting a 5MP camera and a 240 x 320 display, the E72 will be priced at about $70 CAD with a contract. One major con with the device is the rather lackluster internal…
