Droid X Coming Soon
After the EVO 4G hit the mobile market like a hammer, another bomb is about to be unleashed via Verizon. It’s called the Motorola Droid X and it is rumored to be the fastest Android device ever. Powered by Android 2.1, the Motorola Droid X comes with a generous 4.3 inch display and a fast 1GHz processor. The rumors are circulating that Verizon will be launching the Droid X on July 19th, but no official date has been given. Motorola has enjoyed a resurgence of sorts after the release of the Droid device last year and it appears that the Droid X is set to continue that trend. AT&T Pre-Launch iPhones Sold Out
Looks like AT&T has already run out of iPhone HD devices for its pre-launch sale. There will be some iPhones available on June 24th, the official launch day, but no more pre-orders are being taken until then. AT&T released this statement: "Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. HTC Aria Coming to AT&T
$130 is what it will cost consumers in order to get the new HTC Aria. Starting on June 20th, the new HTC device will become available exclusively via AT&T. The HTC Aria is powered by Android 2.1 and features a 3.2 inch HVGA display. The phone offers a sleek design and has no sharp edges. The Aria is a very small phone, coming in at only 4 inches in length. This is obviously a deterrent for those looking for large screens, but anyone who approves of a minimalistic device will surely be impressed. Starbucks to Offer Free Wi-Fi in the U.S.
Lovers of the expensive and horribly overrated coffee at Starbucks will now have access to free Wi-Fi at all U.S. locations. But it is not just Wi-FI that has Starbucks patrons jumping for joy. The largest coffee chain in the world has also announced that it is entering into a digital renaissance. Called the Starbucks Digital Network, this new and exciting service offers a whole slew of content. Examples include The Wall Street Journal and iTunes. Good for Starbucks for this innovative new service that will improve the overall consumer experience dramatically. Apple Offering iPhone HD in Black only?
Hot news off the blogosphere has some Apple fan boys in a panic. It appears that AT&T will only be offering the iPhone HD in black during the first days of the launch. There was no reasoning behind this rumor and some believe that the possibility of black only iPhones should not be taken seriously. In addition, Apple has not announced that it will be offering only black iPhones during the launch of the HD at its stores. This rumor does carry some merit however, as both German and Japanese carriers that will be selling the iPhone HD have confirmed that only a black version will be available for the time being. Virgin Mobile to offer HTC Legend in Canada
Virgin Mobile is now offering the HTC Legend in Canada. Virgin is selling the HTC Legend to Canuckers for $80 and an outrageous three year contract. (Three years? Who says we abolished slavery.) The Legend is another fine piece of mobile hardware from the Taiwan based mobile manufacturer HTC. It is operated by Android 2.1 and sports a 3.2 inch AMOLED display. A standard 5MP camera and a slightly under powered 600 MHz processor round out this financially feasible, but by no means magnificent, mobile device. iPhone HD Available at Wal-Mart
Looks like Wal-Mart will be offering the iPhone HD on June 24th, when the highly anticipated next generation iPhone becomes available. This is quite the change of pace for both AT&T and Apple, with previous iPhones only available at official stores of both companies. Best Buy and Radioshack have also announced that they will be offering the new iPhone. This change in policy could have something to do with increased competition that Apple is facing. Serious iPad Security Breach
It would have been rather embarrassing for both AT&T and Apple if they really cared. It appears that a security breach with the iPad 3G has exposed the email address of some users. It was not clear exactly how many email addresses could have been stolen, but an AT&T spokesman reported that the security problem was rectified in 24 hours. That means that potentially hundreds of thousands of email address could have been stolen. AT&T has promised to warn users who they believe may have been affected by this scandal. I seriously doubt Apple or AT&T will lose any sleep over this kerfuffle and it is plausible to assume that most iPad users either won’t care or will never know what transpired. Fruit Machine Gold Rocks the App Store
A gambling application called Fruit Machine Gold is creating some serious waves in the App Store. Fruit Machine Gold is ranked number one on the Casino chart in the App Store and is in the top 30 paid apps overall. Personally, I have not played Fruit Machine Gold, but I can only assume that it is a slots application and that it is gambling in nature. I have no problem with Fruit Machine Gold, but I do have a problem with Apple. Could someone working in the fortress over at Cupertino please explain to me why gambling is ok, but sexual content isn’t?
