Apple Conducting a Silent Recall of the iPhone 4?

A few rumors are circulating regarding a silent recall by Apple over defective iPhones. The prominent blog Gizmodo received the following from an iPhone 4 user. It should be noted that Apple and Gizmodo apparently share a hostile relationship and that this statement is by no means confirmed and authenticated.

‘I've been following all of the iPhone 4 stuff since I got mine the day before release. I was able to replicate the signal issue. I also had the proximity sensor issue, causing inadvertent mute button pushing. There were a few other software issues I was experiencing so I consulted Apple at the Fifth Avenue store in New York. They replaced my phone. The diagnostic showed that the OS was corrupt and certain utilities were failing. [They claimed that] all…

Consumer Reports Refuses to recommend the iPhone 4

An independent product review service called Consumer Reports has issued a statement explaining that it cannot recommend the purchase of the iPhone 4. Consumer Reports gave the now well known reception problem of the iPhone 4 as the reason they could not give the phone their approval. The independent service also stated that they did not believe Apple’s claim that the reception issues were software related and that they were positive that the calamity was the result of a serious hardware malfunction. This and other sources of negative publicity have not hindered the sales of the iPhone 4. With over 1.7 million units sold, this is the most successful launch by Apple in the company’s history. That being said, the hype Apple received was largely due to the success of the…

    Android to Surpass 10,000 Applications

When the mobile community hears something about a new milestone, (not the operating system) it is usually attached to the Apple App Store. Every month a new statistic comes out that further cements Apple as the undisputed king of mobile applications. That is why it is so refreshing to hear about other companies and developers reaching their own impressive milestones. The Android Market is set to hit 100,000 applications sometime this month. Currently, the Android Market has over 90,000 applications and the rate of new apps indicates that there will be over 100,000 by the end of the month. Apple proponents will be quick to counter that the Android Market isn’t really reaching a milestone because many of the applications available are free. That is a completely irrelevant…

App Inventor Now Available for Android

If you thought that Google used an open source mentality when creating its business agenda, then you will be shocked to learn that they have taken ‘open’ to a whole new level. Introducing the new App Inventor tool which allows anyone to create a simple application for an Android device. How’s that for being open and encouraging creativity? I wonder what Steve Jobs thinks about all this. I’m sure he hasn’t noticed because of his busy schedule which involves reception issues and iPhone bonfires. App Inventor is designed for the student and youth market, but will also appeal to adults without the technical knowledge required to create an app via the normal methods. There is only one requirement for using App Inventor and that is having a Gmail account. That’s the only…

There is no doubt that SplashShopper was a solid app for the iPhone, but how useful is it on an iPad? Unless drag your iPad around with you day and night, there is no reason to use SplashShopper unless you have don't have an iPhone. SplashShopper let’s you sync the information, thus allowing you to transfer your shopping information from the iPad to the iPhone. ESPN Radio App Available for Android

Sports nuts that enjoy watching and listening to ESPN can now stay tuned to their favorite sports media outlet even more. ESPN is now offering a radio application for the Android operating system. The ESPN Radio App is not free, costing $4.99 in order to download and access. The application will include live radio, access to ESPN podcasts, news updates and a handy feature that allows users to text their favorite show and give their often deranged, but nevertheless interesting, opinions. Sounds like ESPN have put together a solid app for its listeners. The only question is the price tag of $4.99. Not saying that the app isn’t worth the money, but with the information overflow we are experiencing in today’s world, it is questionable whether or not people are willing to…

New App Called Fish Farm Now Available

A new application called Fish Farm is now available for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. What is Fish Farm you ask? Fish Farm is an aquarium app where you can grow 3D fish for your enjoyment. It is a free application with the option of making some in-app purchases that make the game more enjoyable. What is the logic behind Fish Farm you ask? Nothing really to be honest. The application seems pretty inane, even though the graphics are nothing to sneeze at. The highlight of Fish Farm is that the fish will respond if you tap the screen on your device – much like tapping an aquarium. There are 74 3D fish that will help you pass the time on the subway or train ride home. "Fish Farm gives people the opportunity to care for exotic fish and construct their ideal freshwater or…

Android 2.2 Much Faster Than the iPhone

It turns out the Android 2.2 kicks the crap out of IOS 4 even more than we thought. The results of SunSpider and V8 were extremely clear that when it comes to speed, IOS 4 eats that dust of the new Android operating system version. The only argument is how much faster? The V8 test claims that the Android 2.2 is three times faster and the SunSpider is just shy of twice as fast. In any case, this is a small victory for the Android over the iPhone. I say small because the speed of the operating system isn’t everything. The iPhone still has two distinct advantages over the Android. 1) The App Store is still the dominate force in application distribution. 2) There is an Apple on the iPhone. Please do not make the mistake of assuming that there is any humor in that…

    New Diamond iPhone 4

It didn’t take long for some pompous ass to make a ‘rich man's’ version of the iPhone 4. The new Diamond iPhone 4 is made of…well…. diamonds – in part anyways. The mastermind behind this beautiful and completely unnecessary device is a man by the name of Stuart Hughes. The Diamond iPhone 4 costs about $15,000 and is very prestigious as only 50 devices are planned for production. The reason only 50 devices are planned is because only 50 saps world wide would buy such a device. It makes me a bit irritated when I think about people who have nothing better to do with their money than buy a $15,000 phone. That being said, I could be bitter because I am not one of those who will probably ever be able to spend that much money on a mobile device. On the other hand, I am pretty…
