Tsunami appeared in 1990 in Virginia, Jenny Toomey (vocals) and Kristin Thomson (guitar) founded the band. Soon after the duo recruited Andrew Webster (bass) and John Pamer (drums). In 1991 the group issued its debut EP entitled Headringer. The same year the band hit the American chart with the "Genius of Crack" single, which was followed by "Left Behin."
