Ahmir Khalib Thompson and Black Thought (also known as Tariq Trotter) founded the hip-hop band called the Roots in the middle 80's. They recruited Malik B. Moving (vocals) and Leon Hubbard (bass) to record the group's debut full-length entitled Organix, which was issued by the Remedy label in 1993.
