Lovers of the expensive and horribly overrated coffee at Starbucks will now have access to free Wi-Fi at all U.S. locations. But it is not just Wi-FI that has Starbucks patrons jumping for joy. The largest coffee chain in the world has also announced that it is entering into a digital renaissance. Called the Starbucks Digital Network, this new and exciting service offers a whole slew of content. Examples include The Wall Street Journal and iTunes. Good for Starbucks for this innovative new service that will improve the overall consumer experience dramatically. Starbucks Digital Network is completely free and is provided in conjunction with Yahoo. Of course, ‘free’ may not be the correct description regarding cost. Starbucks coffee is so over priced that even free Wi-Fi may not be enough to convince sane Americans to visit a branch in their area. If I were Starbucks, I would take this initiative one step further and bolt down an iPad at every table in their branches. That would really get people talking.
