Gale Paridjanian and Olly Knights formed the folk group Turin Brakes in the late 90's. In 1999 the Anvil label issued the duo's debut EP called The Door. The following year the group released its second EP entitled The State of Things. In 2001 Turin Brakes issued its first album, Optimist, which was followed by the Ether Song LP in 2003.
