John Grant (vocals), Andy Monley (guitar), Jeff Linsenmaier (drums), and Chris Pearson (bass) founded the Czars band. In 2000 the group entered the September Sound studio and issued its debut full-length album entitled Before...But Longer. The record became rather popular and was followed by The Ugly People Vs. the Beautiful People LP the next year.
