With the economic crisis still gripping the world with its merciless talons, cell phone sales have decline so far in Q2 of 2009. A report by Gartner claims that the decline is somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.1%. The good news is however, that Smartphone sales have soared 27% during the same time period. Nokia still leads the way with 45% of the Smartphone market, though one could make the argument that many Nokia ‘Smartphones’ should not be placed in the Smartphone category at all. The biggest jump in sales (13.3% overall) goes to Apple, with the 3G S continuing the succession of popular products by the company we all love to hate. RIM holds on to second place at 18.7%. HTC was steady at 6% while Palm did not crack the top five, despite more than decent Pre sales so far in Q2 and 2009 overall.
