Rumors are making their way across the blogosphere regarding the new BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider phone. Suspicions were raised initially when AT&T and RIM announced a joint press conference on August 3rd. While there is no clear indication regarding the announcement’s intent, there is little doubt in the minds of tech gurus as to the agenda. It is also expected that RIM will be displaying the new and exciting BlackBerry 6 mobile operating system. RIM is still the Smartphone king in the United States, controlling roughly 42% of the Smartphone market. AT&T is the second largest wireless provider in the country, second to Verizon by only a small margin. On AT&T’s part, this maybe be a crucial move as they attempt to prepare themselves for the day when their exclusive sweetheart deal with Apple comes to an end and iPhones become available via several carriers.
