Sony Ericsson Vivaz Coming to AT&T

Sony Ericsson is preparing to launch a new mobile device in the Untied States called the Vivaz. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz will be available via AT&T and is the second SE phone announced to be making its may to North America’s second largest carrier after the Xperia X10. The Vivaz comes with decent specks and the trademark high end camera that Sony Ericsson is known for. (They are known for that and not much else unfortunately.) In addition to the 8MP camera, the Vivaz comes with 8GB of internal memory, a somewhat slow 720 MHz CPU, 3.2 inch screen and flash capability. No price has yet to be announced, but one can only assume that AT&T will do so as the carrier starts to hype phones that will be available this coming winter. Sony Ericsson has been in serious financial…

    AT&T and RIM Joining Forces?

Rumors are making their way across the blogosphere regarding the new BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider phone. Suspicions were raised initially when AT&T and RIM announced a joint press conference on August 3rd. While there is no clear indication regarding the announcement’s intent, there is little doubt in the minds of tech gurus as to the agenda. It is also expected that RIM will be displaying the new and exciting BlackBerry 6 mobile operating system. RIM is still the Smartphone king in the United States, controlling roughly 42% of the Smartphone market. AT&T is the second largest wireless provider in the country, second to Verizon by only a small margin. On AT&T’s part, this maybe be a crucial move as they attempt to prepare themselves for the day when their exclusive…

Verizon Could be Abandoning Unlimited Data Plans

Reports are coming in that Verizon may soon be ditching its unlimited plan as it rolls out its 4G network. The rational for Verizon and AT&T, that was the first to abandon unlimited data plans, is that the majority of users only require a small amount of data. Thus, it makes business sense to allow the mainstream users to save money on their data usage and raise the price on those so called data hogs. There has been uproar in the blogosphere regarding Verizon’s new policy, but that anger plays right into the previous point made in this article. Blogosphere writers and reader are not the mobile mainstream for the most part. These are the people would be affected negatively with the change in data prices. The average user however, does not read tech blogs and does not…

Apple Continues to Make Excuses for Bad Reception

Steve Jobs and Apple have gone totally insane. The ongoing mess revolving around poor reception has been one huge public relations blunder for Cupertino. Firstly, Jobs claimed that there was no problem and that users were simply holding the phone wrong. After being laughed at by the market for such an inane response, Jobs and Apple were further hampered by a leaked document that proved that the reception problem was with all iPhones. In a desperate attempt to sweep this problem under the rug, Apple has now come out with the following: ‘Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays two more bars than it should for a given…

AT&T Delays iPhone Sales by Almost a Week!

The Apple faithful have been dealt a crushing blow by AT&T. America’s second largest carrier has announced that it will postpone sales of the iPhone 4 to June 29. Originally, AT&T was scheduled to offer the new iPhone on June 24, but has since been forced to change the announced date due to what appears to be an unexpected shortages in available stock. The reason for the delay is not confirmed however. While the iPhone 4 has sold extremely well during the pre-purchase period, there are some who believe that the real reason for the launch delay is an assembly line glitch. Of course, it may very well be a different reason entirely and we should not put too much faith in rumors. Apple fans will be miffed at the delay, but will tolerate another five days of anxious waiting.…

    AT&T Pre-Launch iPhones Sold Out

Looks like AT&T has already run out of iPhone HD devices for its pre-launch sale. There will be some iPhones available on June 24th, the official launch day, but no more pre-orders are being taken until then. AT&T released this statement: "Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24." We should recall that no white iPhones are available at…

    HTC Aria Coming to AT&T

$130 is what it will cost consumers in order to get the new HTC Aria. Starting on June 20th, the new HTC device will become available exclusively via AT&T. The HTC Aria is powered by Android 2.1 and features a 3.2 inch HVGA display. The phone offers a sleek design and has no sharp edges. The Aria is a very small phone, coming in at only 4 inches in length. This is obviously a deterrent for those looking for large screens, but anyone who approves of a minimalistic device will surely be impressed. Aside from the mandatory two year contract, the only other piece of bad news is the mail in rebate, which goes for $100. An impressive phone to say the least is the HTC Aria, with only those who must have a large display for the device likely to dismiss the possibility of making…

    Serious iPad Security Breach

It would have been rather embarrassing for both AT&T and Apple if they really cared. It appears that a security breach with the iPad 3G has exposed the email address of some users. It was not clear exactly how many email addresses could have been stolen, but an AT&T spokesman reported that the security problem was rectified in 24 hours. That means that potentially hundreds of thousands of email address could have been stolen. AT&T has promised to warn users who they believe may have been affected by this scandal. I seriously doubt Apple or AT&T will lose any sleep over this kerfuffle and it is plausible to assume that most iPad users either won’t care or will never know what transpired. When people like you product, they are willing to ignore or forgive just about…

AT&T Defecates on Customers Yet Again

Those of you interested in tethering with your new iPhone HD are in for a rude awakening. AT&T has announced that the tethering option will not be available with the old unlimited data plan and will only be possible with one of the new pay as you download plans. This represents quite a conundrum for current AT&T customers because they are not required to give up their unlimited plan, even when they upgrade to the new iPhone. The million dollar question is would you switch to the new data usage plan in order to take advantage of tethering? This is a bad move by AT&T in my opinion as it forces loyal customers to make choices that they detest. Either selection will result in consumers feeling jaded, regardless of the fact that they may not really need tethering on their…

    AT&T to Cap Date Usage

AT&T is plunging into some hot water, and may either come out stronger than ever or be burned to a crisp. Ahead of the iPhone HD release, AT&T has engaged in a massive overhaul of its data packages. Gone will be the unlimited data plans that were a staple of the Smartphone over the last several years. Instead, there are new limited plans for a customer to choose from. The leaner package will cost $15 for 200 megabytes and the pro type plan will cost $25 for two gigabytes. "Customers are getting a good deal, and if they can understand their usage, they can save some money," said Ralph de la Vega, the head of AT&T's consumer business. Ralphy baby, you couldn’t be more wrong. High end users and big spenders in the mobile market purchase Smartphones in order to…
