The Apple faithful have been dealt a crushing blow by AT&T. America’s second largest carrier has announced that it will postpone sales of the iPhone 4 to June 29. Originally, AT&T was scheduled to offer the new iPhone on June 24, but has since been forced to change the announced date due to what appears to be an unexpected shortages in available stock. The reason for the delay is not confirmed however. While the iPhone 4 has sold extremely well during the pre-purchase period, there are some who believe that the real reason for the launch delay is an assembly line glitch. Of course, it may very well be a different reason entirely and we should not put too much faith in rumors. Apple fans will be miffed at the delay, but will tolerate another five days of anxious waiting. AT&T has not announced what it plans to do regarding online purchases.
