Devin Townsend (singer and guitarist), Byron Stroud (bass), Jed Simon (guitar), and Gene Hoglan (drums) founded the metal group called Strapping Young Lad in the middle 90's. In 1995 they recorded and released their first full-length album entitled Heavy as a Really Heavy Thin, which became rather popular.
