Female rappers Sandy "Pepa" Denton and Cheryl "Salt" James started the hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa in the middle 80's. In 1986, the duet released their first full-length album called Hot, Cool & Vicious on the Next Plateau label. The hit singles "Push It" and "Tramp" appeared the following year.
