Born in Nigeria Sade (real name: Born Helen Folasade Adu) grew up in London. She began her career in the funk band Arriva. In 1984 Sade produced her debut solo full-length album entitled Diamond Life in England. The following year the record was released in the United States by the CBS' Portrait label.
