The Fugees band was founded at the end of the 80's in New Jersey by Prakazrel "Pras" Michel and Lauryn Hill. They recruited Wyclef "Clef" Jean and in 1993 signed the contract with Ruffhouse/Columbia, which released the band's first album entitled Blunted on Reality. The record was followed by the group's next full-length called The Score in 1996.
