Burt born in Kansas City at May 12, 1928. In his childhood he learned to play drums, piano and violoncello, and later he moved to New York. During 1940's he played in several jazz bands. After he served in Germany, and married Stewart he returned to U.S. and started to write songs. And first hit was performed by Marty Robbins, who brought his "The Story Of My Life" to the American Top 20.
