Stanton is getting a start to this year's NAMM musicians' expo through today's release of the SC series, a new set of decks made just for scratching and mixing digital music from an attached computer. At the core of the system, the SCS.1d turntable deck is designed to wean traditional DJs on to digital; it comes with a vinyl-surfaced platter along with familiar transport and pitch controls but adds digital-only features such as MIDI trigger pads that cue loops or samples on demand from a live DJ music suite. As a counterpart, the SCS.1m mixer achieves the same effect, according to Stanton. Take the Foleo, Palm’s perfectly reasonable attempt to revolutionize ultra-lightweight laptops. The gadget was tested this 2.4-pound computer, which ran for up to 5 hours per charge, and despite a relentless pre-release trash-talking from the tech world (mainly from bloggers who hadn’t touched the thing) we liked it. The 10.2-in. screen and meager flash-based storage were good enough for word processing and Web surfing. Without even realizing it, we started carrying it everywhere we go. Within days, the tiny machine was a fixture in our dorky lives, tucked under our arms, popping open at every meeting, and drawing as many chortles as breathless questions. Details are scarce at the moment, but Sony makes clear mention of a Skype client for the handheld game system on its 2008 promo site, which is pretty official though we're going to hold our breath a little till we see a press release. Obviously, we'll be hearing a lot more about this when the big show kicks off this month, but until then at least we can all sleep a little better at night knowing that the PSP is about to get yet another succulent function. Nokia seems to be more into making pens then making cell phones.
You must be thinking what makes this Digital Pen different? The latest Digital Pen SU-27W by Nokia records writings and pictures from the digital Note Book and stores in the built-in 1.3MB memory. Later, the users transfer data into telephone directory via USB or Bluetooth transfer. The LED indicator tells about the battery consumption. It actually bears a striking resemblance to the FLY Fusion Pen, but Nokia’s offering sets itself apart with the addition of Bluetooth. Not only does this mean you can wirelessly connect the pen to a Bluetooth equipped PC, but it also means hand-written notes or drawings can be uploaded to a Bluetooth equipped cellphone.
