Stanton is getting a start to this year's NAMM musicians' expo through today's release of the SC series, a new set of decks made just for scratching and mixing digital music from an attached computer. At the core of the system, the SCS.1d turntable deck is designed to wean traditional DJs on to digital; it comes with a vinyl-surfaced platter along with familiar transport and pitch controls but adds digital-only features such as MIDI trigger pads that cue loops or samples on demand from a live DJ music suite. As a counterpart, the SCS.1m mixer achieves the same effect, according to Stanton. Each of the four channels includes standard faders and knobs for EQ and other settings but also includes LED-lit modifiable knobs that can control multiple settings with quick toggles.
A FireWire connection to an attached Mac or PC guarantees lag-free changes even when a CD player or other audio device is plugged in through an aux-in jack.Though described separately, both SC devices will ship in a bundle and should be ready by May for $2,499
