Skype fans are hooting and hollering in ecstasy as Skype announced a new version of its popular VoIP service. Skype 2.0 has one new feature that is sure to up its functionality in the eyes of iPhone users. Skype can now be used with AT&T’s 3G network. Until now, Skype could only be used via Wi-Fi, but the addition of 3G compatibility will make this application a surefire hit amongst some fans. We say some because come August, using Skype via 3G will not be free. There is small fee involved, but rates have not been disclosed at this time. Other features of the new Skype application include faster start time and faster access to the dial pad. Let us all hope that Skype continues their good run, because it helps keep the money sucking overlords in the wireless industry on their toes at the best of times.
