Recently, Nokia announced that the Ovi Store has surpassed an average of one million downloads per day. This could be attributed to the growing understanding of the Ovi Store by consumers and the consolidation of the Nokia’s Ovi, Widsets, Mosh and Download! into basically one entity with Ovi as the face. If I were Nokia, I wouldn’t exactly start parading naked in the streets, displaying my accomplishments just yet. Even though Nokia’s market share in the Smartphone segment has declined recently; it is still one of the bigger players in high end mobile service. By percentage, the million daily downloads achieved by Ovi are modest, but still a cause for some concern in Finland. Nevertheless, one million downloads is still better than the meager numbers Ovi was garnering at the beginning of its existence. But with the competition in the app business heating up in 2010, Nokia cannot rest on its laurels.
