The deep metal group called Suffocation appeared in New York City in the beginning of the 90's. Frank Mullen (vocals), Chris Richards (bass), Mike Smith (drummer), and Terrance Hobbs and Doug Cerrito founded the band (both: guitar). In 1991, they released their first full-length album entitled Effigy of the Forgotten, which had a huge success.
