Shaun Cooper (bass) and John Nolan (vocals and guitar) founded Straylight Run in 2003. The following year they signed the music contract with the Victory label and issued their first eponymous album. After that the band went on tour with Northstar, Hot Rod Circuit, Rooney, etc. In 2005 Straylight Run returned with the Prepare to Be Wrong EP.
