The title of the group Amorphis came from the Greek word "amorphous", that means "having no forms or outlines ".
The structure of Amorphis was combined in Helsinki in 1990, when guitarist Esa Holopainen and drummer/keyboard player Ian Rechberger have decided to unite their creative efforts.
