This move was expected after HP purchased the struggling Palm Corporation, including their highly regarded but underachieving WebOS. This does not mean that HP has ceased to work with the Microsoft operating system overall. It has been reported that HP plans on releasing a slate device later this year that will be powered by Windows 7. What is interesting however is that HP recently registered the name PalmPad. Looks like things are moving pretty fast in HP land. After the purchase of struggling mobile firm Palm, HP is rumored to be releasing a new webOS powered slate in Q3 of this year. Codenamed Hurricane, (See HTC? It’s not that difficult to come up with a decent name for a device) the new slate is apparently the replacement of the recently axed HP slate. The Sunnyvale based mobile manufacturer, recently purchased by corporate giant HP, has announced that a new version of their webOS mobile operating system should be released in the next several weeks. ‘The next version of webOS is coming soon.
