Looks like things are moving pretty fast in HP land. After the purchase of struggling mobile firm Palm, HP is rumored to be releasing a new webOS powered slate in Q3 of this year. Codenamed Hurricane, (See HTC? It’s not that difficult to come up with a decent name for a device) the new slate is apparently the replacement of the recently axed HP slate. While some, including myself, thought that the main reason HP purchased Palm was for its patents, it turns out that HP secretly coveted the webOS for its new iPad competitor. No price or technical specifications have been released at this time and all of this information should be treated as unofficial. Almost all major technology firms are set to release a slate type device this year. It is amazing how confident major corporations are in assuming that the iPad is a success. As far as sales are concerned, it most certainly is, but when it comes to the purchase of media and subscriptions, the jury is still out.
