Low Power WiFi From LG And Nanoradio

With the increase in energy consumption from all sorts of mobile devices including your favourite mobile phones by the day, companies try to come up with new technologies all the time which would help reduce power consumption, which is ultimately beneficial for our environment as well in the long run. One of such efforts has been made jointly by LG Innotek and Nanoradio which have combined their brains and brawn to produce low power WiFi technology which will be used in the mobile phones most probably by the end of the second quarter of the coming year i.e. 2007

The heart of the innovation lies in the Nanoradio NRx700 WiFi chipset which has very low power consumption and has been endorsed and selected by LGIT for their joint venture, after having a look at…

Do You Charge Your Mobile All Night?

Are you one of those who are lazy enough to switch off the charger of your mobile before going to bed thinking innocently that it wont make much of a difference to your budget, after all what are your earning for day and night if you cannot even afford this luxury. Well guys if you do so, you may not be jeopardizing your electricity bills by any significant amount but you are doing even a major disaster - you are playing with the future of your grandsons.

What did you say - how? Well let me explain, actually studies conducted have shown that the small electronic items like your cell phones, iPods etc are being bought in leaps and bounds by people and their demand for electricity is almost doubling with time. So where does that lead us to. Well to the very…

Where You At? - From Boost Mobile

You surely are aware of the tagline - where you at? - and this is exactly the new idea from Boost Mobile which is a US mobile virtual network operator. This is a service targeted at young customers who believe in using technology to stay in touch as we know the phenomenon and concept of e-socializing is on the rise by the day and companies are cashing on it by connecting people (mind you when I say this tagline of connecting people I don’t only mean Nokia but companies in general as well).

So this is an interesting service which helps you keep in touch with your friends by knowing where they are located by displaying them as dots on your mobile screen on a local area map. What an exciting idea I must say to become a dot on the screen and be viewed by other…

Calling 911 - Just Give Your Location

Well we all know what 911 is (if anybody doesn’t know it is really sad), but unluckily if ever you are in an emergency and just give a call to 911 and explain your problem and cut the phone, you might keep waiting for the emergency services to arrive for ages.

The reason being that it has been found that nearly 15 counties in the New York do not have the technology to locate the 911 caller. This is despite the fact that handsome sums of money of the order of 150 million dollars were allocated to set up this technology and nearly half of it has been used.

So let’s hope the government steps up its efforts to improvise on the situation so that next time somebody is in trouble, they do not need to know where on earth they are in trouble. After all trouble…

Opera Mobile For Future Samsung Mobile Phones

For you music lovers out there (as far as my experience goes, most mobile lovers are music lovers too) the word "Opera" flashes a very musical image in your mind. Well the Opera we are talking here does not refer to any music drama as such, but to the new software from Opera Company which will help you view your favourite internet pages on your mobile phone more smoothly and conveniently - yes I mean a new web browser developed by Opera under the name of Opera Mobile.

Who would be ready to pounce upon such a novel idea but Samsung, who have signed a pact with Opera Software to put their browser in the latest phones manufactured by the company.

The browser utilizes Small Screen Rendering Technology so that it can skillfully format the pages…

    Streaming Podcasts At BlackBerry

If you have read the poem by Henry Davies - no time to stand and stare - then you will surely understand hat I am talking about. The world has become extremely busy and people are not finding time for themselves let alone anyone else. So it is not a surprise that the quality called virtue is on the decline and people want things done more quickly all the time.

This is where podcasting comes in, and for people with no time to stand and stare at their televisions or computers to read news and other information, Quickplay have a scheme for BlackBerry owners who could pay nearly eight bucks a month (plus some network charges etc) and get a daily updated content from several reputed sources like ABC News, etc on their mobiles. The only thing I hope is that you could…

    Plug And Play Speakers

I am sure you are aware of the term plug and play as it is a very popular catch phrase and used to mention devices which do not require complex installation procedures to harmonize their functioning with your dear PC or mobile. Plug and play devices come in various flavors from your pen drives, hard disks and what not.

But now there is a new concept in plug and play... ok you guessed it right... its plug and play speakers. You know your lovely little iPod or mobile may not have that much power to boost up big speakers which means you really don’t enjoy music (I mean for those who want to hear at a bit higher volume). So here’s the solution, just get your plug and play speakers, plug them in any standards electric outlet, tune them to catch your music which is…

    Social Networking Growing On Mobiles

Life is full of paradoxes and the technology has given rise to one. Great advances in telecommunications, networking and the wide, cheap and easy availability of mobiles has made communications extremely easy and within the reach of all and sundry. But the same technology has deprived people of the time they spend with each other at least by being physically present at one place. Quite a strange coincidence though but then that’s what they call life.

So here again the same technology comes to the rescue, and it has been observed that thesedays mobile social networking is on the rise and people are more and more connected by using portable devices. According to an estimate nearly 170 million people will be connected on social networks by the year 2011. So if you…

    Mobile Banking From Wachovia

The day is not far when everything will go mobile and everyday more and more things are on the move literally speaking. Now Wachovia have come up with mobile banking for their US customers. For the time being this service is only available on cell phones having Windows Mobile 5 with pocket version of your very own Internet Explorer although it was found to work well with other browsers as well.

The first phase of the implementation of the mobile banking system has already started. The only thing I am hoping is that very soon everything might go mobile except the user which becomes more and more immobile (read lazy) due to everything being done at the touch of a button with the fingertips.

The last thing that should be needed is a mobile that makes you…
