Each cellphone user has personal preferences when it comes to which cellphone features to use. Some people like to strictly use the technical features, while others prefer to download songs and music to entertain themselves. Well, there is some good news in store for the music lovers. AT&T has made an official announcement that the full Napster’s music catalog of over five million songs will be available to AT&T’s cellphone customers beginning from next month. Therefore, this likely to be popular service will enlarge the company’s contributions past the independent music offers through eMusic. In addition, this will definitely give AT&T an opportunity to compete with Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel in the music download arena.
Today AT&T provides Napster users with a chance to transfer music from their personal computer to their cellphone by using a cable or storage card. However, both companies are planning to significantly improve music sales by using an entirely different technique of allowing content to be directly downloaded to cellphones using a WiFi network. Both companies are hoping that customers will understand the issue of the high costs of such service and will not be too scared by the high prices. Also important to note that Napster service will not be compatible with Apple’s iPhone; even though AT&T is the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the US.
