Uncle Kracker's real name is Matt Shafer. He is also known as Kid Rock's old friend. He became popular after issuing his debut solo album, called Double Wide, on Kid Rock's own Top Dog/Atlantic/Lava label. After that the two musicians became just like brothers (in fact, they got acquainted in Clawson, MI, in 1987) having the same tastes in music.
