Rush was formed in Toronto, Ontario, in the autumn of 1968 by guitarist Alex Lifeson, vocalist/bassist Geddy Lee and drummer John Rutsey. At first the band performed in a local club, but in 1973 they released their debut single "Not Fade Away".
