The trio Chevelle, based in Chicago, was inspired by the lurching riffs of Helmet and the soft/loud vocal styling of Tool. Its aggressive, heavy sound is all about mounting tension exploding into raw guitar bursts. The band was formed in 1995. Its members are brothers Sam (drums), Pete (vocals, guitar), and Joe Loeffler (bass).
