Rory MacDonald, Calum MacDonald, and Blair Douglas formed Runrig in 1973. A bit later Donnie Munro joined the band, and Robert MacDonald replaced Blair Douglas. Actually the band was constantly reforming, but nevertheless the band was successful enough.
