Ashen Mortality was formed in 1993 by the former Seventh Angel member Ian Arkley (guitar/vocals) and Melanie Bolton (keyboardist/vocalist). Within months of their formation, accompanied by bassist Tim Cooper and drummer Brian Jones, the Birmingham-based quartet debuted their hybrid of black metal and goth on their self-released demo.
