Farmville, the popular Facebook application, is coming to the iPhone and iPad… apparently. The blogosphere is reporting that the domain farmvilleiphone.com has been secured by Zynga, the same company responsible for the Facebook version. Millions of Facebook peons are ecstatic at the news. However, just because a company secures the iPhone version of their domain name, does not indicate that such a release is imminent. Many tech and web firms have dozens, if not hundreds, of domain names for numerous and varied reasons. While an iPad version of Farmville does make sense, it has not been confirmed either. Another claim has been that it is unknown whether or not there will be an App Store version, or just a web version of the game. The assumption is made because of the domain name of course. This is also false, because many app developers secure the domain name of their application, even if they plan on distrusting their creations via an official store or market. There are just too many assumptions at this point.
