New movies-on-demand service is ready to take flight in the UK. Specifically, T-Mobile is offering the services of Saffron Digital to those who purchase the HTC Desire. It has been announced that Warner Bros is affiliated with this new venture. Customers will be able to select and purchase a single movie and then possess a 48 hour window to watch said flick. Prices vary from 3.49 pounds for new releases to 2.49 pounds for older movies. T-Mobile head of handset and device marketing Nicola Shenton was very upbeat about the whole affair. We anticipate the Desire being one of our most popular handsets of 2010, and the VOD+ service makes it an even greater value for our customers," she said. “As the service is unique to T-Mobile, it will also be a key differentiator for us as we compete with other networks," continued Shenton. It remains to be seen how successful this VOD service will become. Experience tells us that movie streaming has yet to become a key feature of the mobile phone lifestyle.
